VolunteerWNY has partnered with ACCORD Corporation, Community Missions of Niagara Frontier, Compass House, Friends of Night People, Heart Love & Soul, Lockport Cares, Little Portion Friary and Matt Urban Hope Center to launch a brand new initiative in addressing homelessness in WNY. VolunteerWNY is actively recruiting community volunteers to increase the impact of service to clients, specifically providing direct assistance to alleviate homelessness. VolunteerWNY will offer Impact Projects that are recurring volunteer opportunities that will empower volunteers to take personal responsibility for addressing homelessness in their community.
The VolunteerWNY Homelessness Initiative is funded under the Volunteer Generation Fund and New York State Commission on National and Community Service. VolunteerWNY specifically focuses its efforts to combat homelessness in WNY. VolunteerWNY will make a demonstrable impact on the root causes of poverty within Western New York. We serve Erie, Niagara, Allegany, Cattaraugus and Chautauqua Counties. VolunteerWNY will provide services to help economically disadvantaged and homeless individuals find appropriate housing; to prevent eviction and/or homelessness; and to assist individuals in accessing appropriate housing.
